Abstract

Emotional development is a crucial aspect of child developmental psychology, influencing behavior, social interactions, and learning readiness. A common problem is the limited understanding of children's emotional development stages and the factors that influence them among parents and educators. Consequently, children's emotions are not optimally managed. This article aims to examine children's emotional development from a developmental psychology perspective, encompassing the definition of emotion, the stages of emotional development, and its implications for children's social and educational development. The research method used is a literature review, analyzing various sources, including developmental psychology textbooks, scientific journal articles, and relevant previous research. The study's findings indicate that children's emotional development occurs in stages according to age and is influenced by biological factors, family environment, parenting styles, and educational environment. Optimal emotional development positively contributes to children's self-regulation, empathy, and social adjustment. Therefore, responsive and educational environmental support is essential to support healthy emotional development in children
