Abstract

This study aims to identify and obtain information about: (1) the forms of the principal’s role in improving educational facilities and infrastructure at SDN 19 Sebambang in the 2024–2025 academic year; (2) the implementation of the principal’s efforts in improving educational facilities and infrastructure at SDN 19 Sebambang in the 2024–2025 academic year; and (3) the supporting and inhibiting factors faced by the principal in improving educational facilities and infrastructure at SDN 19 Sebambang in the 2024–2025 academic year. This research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques included data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through prolonged observation, source and technique triangulation, and member checking. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the forms of the principal’s role in improving educational facilities and infrastructure include serving as a manager, motivator, administrator, and leader; (2) the implementation of the principal’s efforts in improving educational facilities and infrastructure involves analyzing the condition of facilities and infrastructure, carrying out procurement and renovation according to the number of students and curriculum needs, establishing a maintenance and care system, utilizing information and communication technology tools, and collaborating with external parties; (3) the supporting and inhibiting factors in improving educational facilities and infrastructure include systematic planning, systematic document and data management, synergy among staff and teachers, supervision and feedback for human resource competency development, limited funding, lack of training, and the absence of alternative funding sources.
