Abstract

Agriculture has an important role as one of the economic sector that supports economic development in developing countries, including Indonesia. However, the agricultural system in Indonesia has not yet reached its optimal point. The efficiency of production factors utilization is absolutely crucial for farmers. Due to this phenomenon, this study aims to analyze the simultaneous and partial influence of production factors such as land area, capital, and labor on citrus production, and to analyze the economies of scale and economic efficiency of production factors such as land area, capital, and labor in citrus farming. This study used primary data that obtained from interviews with citrus farmers in Kerta Village, Payangan District, Gianyar Regency. The sample was determined using nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling. The sample size was determined with Slovin formula, yielding a sample of 91 citrus farmers. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression based on the Cobb-Douglas production function. The results of this study indicate that land area, capital, and labor simultaneously had a significant influence on citrus production. Partially, the land area, capital, and labor had a positive and significant influence on citrus production. The economies of scale in citrus farming were in an increasing return to scale condition, which means that each proportional inputs increase will produce an additional output that is greater than the inputs change. The economic efficiency of the production factors utilization such as land area, capital, and labor in citrus farming was not yet efficient, so the utilization needed to be increased. These results implies the need of strategies to increase citrus production efficiency in order to increase citrus farming productivity.

Abstract

The welfare of fishermen in Desa Adat Jimbaran, Badung Regency, remains relatively low due to various interrelated factors, including limited human resources, the continued use of traditional fishing methods, restricted access to capital, poor financial management habits, and the underutilization of modern fishing technology. This study aims to analyze the determinants of fishermen’s income and welfare by focusing on three main variables: working capital, technology, and work experience. Using a quantitative approach with Partial Least Squares (PLS) as the analytical tool, this research was conducted among fishermen in Desa Adat Jimbaran, who face uncertainties in daily catch volumes and income. The findings reveal that working capital and work experience have a positive and significant effect on both income and welfare, while technology has a positive but statistically insignificant effect. Income is also found to be a significant mediating variable between the independent variables and fishermen’s welfare. These results suggest that while capital and experience are essential in enhancing income and living standards, the application of fishing technology has not produced optimal outcomes due to limited skills and high operational costs. Therefore, there is a need for training and improved access to user-friendly technology to strengthen the economic resilience of traditional fishing communities.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) constitute a major component of the economy, playing a vital role in supporting national economic development and significantly contributing to local economies. The trade sector, as one of the prominent MSME sectors, has experienced substantial growth and remains highly attractive to the public in South Denpasar District. This strong growth potential inevitably intensifies competition among MSME actors, necessitating greater creativity and innovation. This study aims to examine the effect of capital, business duration, and technology utilization on the income of MSME actors in the trade sector in South Denpasar, both simultaneously and partially. The study was conducted in South Denpasar District, with a population of 3,306 trade-sector MSME units and a sample of 97 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The types of data used include both qualitative and quantitative data. The analytical techniques applied are descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that all independent variables have a significant simultaneous effect on the dependent variable. Partially, capital, business duration, and technology utilization each have a positive and significant effect on the income of MSME actors in the trade sector in South Denpasar.
