Abstract

Broiler chickens and goats are livestock that serve as a source of animal protein. In broiler chickens, productivity is directly proportional to the availability of high-quality feed. Similarly, for goats, feed issues are crucial as they influence carcass composition, particularly fat content. The application of biotechnology in feed processing, utilizing microorganisms through fermentation, is one solution to ensure the availability of quality feed. In this research, data were extracted from relevant research journals and analyzed using a descriptive-analytical approach. The review results indicate that the fermentation of rice bran and unconventional feed fermentation with Aspergillus niger and Saccharomyces cerevisiae is beneficial for broiler chickens. Meanwhile, the fermentation of cassava leaves and peels serves as an alternative feed for village chickens. The utilization of microorganisms in the fermentation of feed for commercial laying hens includes Rhizopus oligosporus, Trichoderma viride, and their combination. On the other hand, cellulolytic bacteria are beneficial for goat feed

Abstract

Most of the engineering or modification of plant traits is carried out to address the increasing global food needs with high quality. The growing demand for potatoes and tomatoes has led to a high market demand for high-quality tomato and potato plants, necessitating the sale of quality plants. Therefore, continuous efforts are made to improve the quality in the tomato and potato farming sector. This is aimed at producing new plants with superior characteristics compared to previous ones. This research uses a literature study from 15 journal articles from 2015-2023 related to the development and application of biotechnology in agriculture for the production of fertilizers to increase crop yields. The literature was searched using Google Scholar with the keywords 'genetic engineering utilization in tomato fruit' and 'genetic engineering utilization in potatoes.' The analysis was conducted using descriptive analytics, and the data were examined narratively descriptively. The results of the discussion on the use of genetic engineering in tomato and potato plants show that the production of tomato plant seeds has significantly increased. This can include an increase in the number of fruits produced per plant or an increase in fruit size. The role of biotechnology in the utilization of genetic engineering in tomato and potato plants can be considered a solution because it has a significant impact on plant growth and agricultural yields..

Abstract

Pollution is the entry or introduction of living organisms, energy substances, and/or other components into the environment. The increasing pollution of air and water, as well as the contamination of the soil, contributes to environmental degradation. Inadequate waste management that leads to environmental damage prompts the exploration of solutions, and one option is to employ bioremediation techniques for polluted air, water, and contaminated soil. This research involves a literature review of articles on bioremediation, aiming to outline bioremediation techniques as an alternative solution to environmental pollution. The investigation process includes 16 articles, which are then analyzed. The literature review results indicate that bioremediation techniques, such as phytoremediation, bioaugmentation, and biostimulation, are widely employed as environmental solutions. The findings from the literature review are expected to contribute recommendations for the application of bioremediation in addressing environmental pollution caused by waste
