Abstract

Basically, body conditioning exercises are a physical preparation process designed to transform a dancer's body into a ready, flexible, and strong instrument for executing every dance movement. This research aims to describe and analyze the role of body conditioning in shaping the movement characteristics of students at Sanggar Tari Srimpi. Data were collected through direct observation of the training process, in-depth interviews with the owner and instructors, and visual documentation. The results indicate that disciplined body conditioning, starting from warming up, somatic exercises for body awareness, to muscle strengthening, successfully develops movement characteristics that are fluid (luwes), precise, and calm (anteng). This proves that body conditioning is not merely a supplementary activity, but a crucial strategy for maintaining technical quality and professionalism among dancers in performing traditional dances
