Abstract

The development of coaching competence is one of the important factors in supporting the success of sports development programs, including in rugby which requires strong physical ability, technical skills, and strategic gameplay. However, the limited number of coaches who possess adequate coaching competencies remains one of the challenges in the development of rugby at the regional level. Therefore, this community service activity aims to improve the coaching competence of participants through the implementation of a Training of Trainer (ToT) program in rugby. This community service activity was conducted in October 2025 at Jasdam Neusu Field, Banda Aceh, involving 24 participants consisting of rugby administrators from various districts and cities across Aceh Province. The implementation method was carried out through three main stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The training activities included the delivery of sports coaching theory, demonstrations of basic rugby techniques, field practice, and coaching simulations. The evaluation of the activity was conducted using pre-test and post-test methods, as well as observations during practical sessions to measure the improvement of participants’ understanding and skills. The results showed that the Training of Trainer-based training program was able to enhance participants' understanding of the fundamental concepts of sports coaching and improve their skills in practicing basic rugby techniques. Therefore, this training activity can serve as an effective strategy to enhance coaching competence and support the development of rugby coaching programs in Aceh Province

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve football coaches’ competencies through sport science and tactical training–based coaching in Aceh Province. The main problems faced by participants included limited understanding of modern training methods, scientific training program design, and tactical training implementation. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of needs analysis, module development, material delivery, field practice, mentoring, and evaluation. Participants included 30 football coaches from soccer schools, local clubs, and football academies in Aceh. Training materials covered sport science, training periodization, physical conditioning management, small-sided games, performance analysis, and tactical training. The results showed significant improvement in participants’ competencies, with average understanding increasing from 62% before training to 86% after training. Participants also demonstrated better skills in designing training programs and managing game-based training sessions. Therefore, the sport science and tactical training model proved effective in enhancing football coaching quality and supporting sustainable sports development in Aceh Province

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the 2012 Physical Fitness Gymnastics on improving the physical fitness of students at SMA Inshafuddin Banda Aceh. The study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method and a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research sample consists of 26 students selected from the population of SMA Inshafuddin Banda Aceh students. The instrument used to measure physical fitness level is the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) for ages 16–19 years. The results show an improvement in students’ physical fitness after being given the 2012 Physical Fitness Gymnastics treatment. The mean physical fitness score in the pretest is 20.38 with a standard deviation of 2.32, while in the posttest it increases to 22.54 with a standard deviation of 1.78. The normality test using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov and Shapiro–Wilk tests shows that the data are normally distributed, with significance values greater than 0.05. Furthermore, the paired t-test results show a calculated t value of 13.170 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the 2012 Physical Fitness Gymnastics has a significant effect on improving the physical fitness of students at SMA Inshafuddin Banda Aceh

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of plyometric training and recovery monitoring on improving the performance of 15-year-old soccer athletes at SSB Talenta FC. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 22 athletes selected through a total sampling technique. The training program was conducted for 8 weeks with a frequency of three training sessions per week. The research instruments included the Vertical Jump Test, 20-Meter Sprint Test, Illinois Agility Test, and Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test. Recovery monitoring was carried out through measurements of Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE), muscle soreness, recovery heart rate, and athletes’ sleep quality. Data analysis utilized normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample t-tests, and effect size analysis with the assistance of IBM SPSS version 26. The results showed that plyometric training and recovery monitoring had a significant effect on improving the performance of youth soccer athletes, with the significance value of all variables being 0.000 < 0.05. Performance improvements were indicated by an increase in vertical jump height of 6.54 cm, sprint speed improvement of 0.31 seconds, agility improvement of 1.61 seconds, and aerobic endurance enhancement of 217 meters. In addition, recovery indicators demonstrated improvements through decreased RPE, muscle soreness, and recovery heart rate, as well as enhanced athletes’ sleep quality. It can be concluded that the integration of plyometric training and recovery monitoring is effective in improving the physical performance of youth soccer athletes based on sport science principles
