Abstract

Background: Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury is a common injury caused by sports. This injury impacts the functional activities of sufferers because it can cause a long healing process. The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is one of the four main ligaments in the knee that functions to maintain the stability of the knee joint by preventing excessive movement of the tibia bone against the femur bone. Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries usually occur due to direct trauma, such as impact, or indirect trauma involving a sudden twisting movement of the knee while the foot is resting on the ground. The main symptoms of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury include severe pain, rapid swelling, knee instability, and significant limitation of motion. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Ultrasound and Functional Strength Training (FST) interventions on increasing Quadriceps muscle strength in patients with Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries at the Fisiohands Physiotherapy Clinic. Methode of this research used a Quasi Experimental method with a One-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this study was 21 patients. Data analysis using the Non-Parametric Wilcoxon Test. The results of this study based on the analysis obtained that there was a significant change in the value of Quadriceps muscle strength before and after physiotherapy (P <0.05) so it was concluded that the administration of Ultrasound and Functional Strength Training (FST) was effective in increasing the strength of the Quadriceps muscle in patients with Anterior Cruciatum Ligament (ACL) injuries. Conclusion: From the results of this study, the administration of Ultrasound and Functional Strength Training (FST) is expected to be an alternative in the implementation of physiotherapy in patients with Anterior Cruciatum Ligament (ACL) injuries.
