Abstract

The phenomenon of secondary victimization is a serious problem in the criminal justice system, resulting in continued suffering for crime victims. Secondary victimization occurs due to insensitive treatment by law enforcement officers and legal mechanisms, resulting in additional trauma. In this context, advocates have a strategic role in providing responsive legal assistance to prevent secondary victimization. This study aims to analyze the responsibility of advocates in preventing secondary victimization of victims through legal assistance oriented toward protecting victims' rights. The research method used is normative legal research with a statutory and conceptual approach. The results indicate that advocates have not only a legal responsibility but also a moral responsibility to ensure victims receive optimal protection during the legal process. Responsive, humanistic, and victim-oriented legal assistance is key to minimizing secondary victimization and realizing a just criminal justice system.
