Abstract

This research was conducted in the waters of Maileppet Village, South Siberut District with the aim of (1) mapping the distribution of coral reefs in the waters of Maileppet Village, South Siberut District; (2) determining the level of damage to coral reefs in the waters of Maileppet Village, South Siberut District. determine the level of damage to coral reefs in the waters of Maileppet Village, South Siberut District. The data processing method to determine the distribution of coral reefs uses an unsupervised classification algorithm, namely Classify Without Training, using Arc Map 10.8 software to classify coral reef distribution and Excel software to calculate the area of coral reef classes. To determine the level of damage to coral reefs, use a coral reef damage calculation formula in the form of a percentage of damage. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the distribution in 2023 will have a total area of 113.67 ha of coral reefs, including live coral reefs covering 51.71 ha (45.49%), dead coral reefs covering 40.49 ha (35.62%), and sand 21.47 ha (18.89%). The level of damage to coral reefs was dominated by coral fragments with a percentage of 28.9% and dead corals caused by algae with a percentage of 23.3%, with an average percentage of dead coral reefs of 52.2%. So, it can be concluded that the level of damage to coral reefs in the waters of Maileppet Village, South Siberut District, according to the criteria for coral reef damage, is in the high category
