Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS), influenced by teacher-centered practices that limited active participation. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Giving Question and Getting Answer (GQGA) learning model in improving students’ learning outcomes. A quantitative approach was used with a pre-experimental method employing a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants were 42 fifth-grade students at SD Madani Islamic School Riau. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments that had been validated and tested for reliability. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the average pretest score was 63, with a mastery percentage of 9.5%. After the implementation of GQGA, the posttest average increased to 87.14, with a mastery percentage of 92.9%. The Wilcoxon test result (0.000 < 0.05) indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. The N-Gain value of 0.64 was categorized as moderate. These findings indicate that the GQGA learning model is effective in improving students’ learning outcomes in IPAS.
