This article seeks to examine the development of the concept of maqāṣid al-sharī’ah by emphasizing the characteristic of the three main figures of different schools of thought: al-Ghazālī, al-Shaṭibī, al-Ṭūfī. Keywords: Maqāṣid al-Sharī’ah, Maṣlaḥah, Islamic Law
