<![CDATA[Metaphor is widely used in poetry to express thoughts and emotions through figurative language. While many studies have examined metaphors in literary works, limited research has explored metaphor use in poems written by English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. This study aims to identify the types of metaphors used in students' English poems and to describe how these metaphors convey meaning. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to analyze 24 English poems written by university students. The analysis was based on Parera's metaphor classification and interpreted using Conceptual Metaphor Theory. The findings reveal four types of metaphors: abstract-to-concrete, anthropomorphic, synesthetic, and animal metaphors. Abstract-to-concrete metaphors were the most frequently used, suggesting that students tend to express abstract ideas through concrete experiences. These findings provide a better understanding of metaphor use in EFL students' creative writing and offer useful insights for teaching poetry, figurative language, and creative writing in English language classrooms.]]>
