Abstract

           Kelemahan dalam menguasai dan mengontrol sistem Material Requirements Planning (MRP) menjadi kendala dalam implementasi sistem tersebut di perusahaan. Penggunaan program berbasis komputer yang didesign secara khusus dapat mengkompensasi kelemahan dalam menguasai MRP guna meningkatkan kinerja sistem tersebut disamping dukungan managemen untuk mengefektifkan sistem ini. Sistem Pendukung Keputusan (SPK) pada thesis ini didesign khusus untuk memperbaiki kinerja MRP dalam hal pemilihan lot sizing untuk menimalisasi biaya inventory yang timbul akibat pengadaan material bahan baku di pabrik kemasan plastik P.T. “X”. SPK ini akan melakukan proses perhitungan untuk mencari keputusan biaya inventory terbaik dengan cara menghitung dan membandingkan biaya inventory menggunakan 4 metode lot sizing diantaranya: Lot For Lot, Fix Order Quantity, Fix Periode Requirements dan Economic Order Quantity. Dari hasil perancangan dan pengujian aplikasi Sistem Pendukung Keputusan akan menghasilkan keputusan yang tepat dan fleksibel dengan aspek yang mempengaruhi keputusan tersebut, serta menghasilkan laporan agar user mengerti akan keputusan tersebut diambil            The lack of company expertise and less control in Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to be the major implementation obstacle. Lot sizing methods at PT. “X” considered has not been optimum in balancing between holding costs and ordering costs in raw material supplies. The Purpose of this research is to build Decision Support System (DSS) which can give lot sizing alternatives to find the lowest inventory cost. The research to build DSS starts with Intelligence Phase: to know organizational objectives, search and scanning procedures and data collection. Next phase is Design Phase: design database, formulate a model, set criteria for choice, search for alternatives and create user interface. And final phase is implementation and validation by showing 4 methods calculation of lot sizing i.e.: Lot for Lot, Fix Order Quantity, Fix Period Requirements and Economic Order Quantity. The research showed the DSS could give alternatives lot sizing methods in finding lowest inventory cost and give full report for user to understand the best option. Lot for lot as lot sizing method in company revealed as the worst practice between 3 other lot sizing method alternatives.
