<![CDATA[ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan alkohol 96% ke premium terhadap unjuk kerja motor otto. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen. Pemilihan metode ini disesuaikan dengan tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk membandingkan unjuk kerja mesin yang meliputi Torsi, Daya, Konsumsi Bahan Bakar Spesifik, Rasio Udara Bahan Bakar, Efisiensi Volumetris, dan Efisiensi Thermal Brake pada mesin bensin Empat Langkah Empat Silinder dengan menggunakan bahan bakar premium tanpa alkohol 96% dengan bahan bakar premium dicampur alkohol 96% dengan variasi penambahan 5%, 7%, dan 9%. Penelitian ini dilakukan di laboratorium Motor Bakar Departemen Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik USU. Berdasarkan penelitian ini diperoleh hasil yaitu daya yang dihasilkan oleh mesin berbahan bakar premium murni masih lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan daya yang dihasilkan oleh mesin berbahan bakar premium campuran alkohol 96%. Semakin meningkat kadar alkohol dalam premium, maka daya akan semakin menurun, konsumsi bahan bakar meningkat, efisiensi volumetris menurun, dan efisiensi thermal brake semakin meningkat. The method used in this study is the experimental method. The selection of this method adapted to the purpose of the study is to compare the performance of the machine which include Torque, Power, Specific Fuel Consumption, Air Fuel Ratio, volumetric efficiency, and Brake Thermal Efficiency in Step Four petrol engine with four cylinders using premium fuel without alcohol 96% premium fuel blended with alcohol 96% with the addition of variation 5%, 7%, and 9%. The research was conducted in the laboratory of the Department of Motor Fuels USU Faculty of Engineering. Based on the results ofthis study showed that the power generated by the pure premium fueled engines are still higher than the power generated by the engine premium fuel mixture of 96% alcohol. Increasing levels of alcohol in the premium, then the power will be decreased, increased fuel consumption, decreased volumetric efficiency and brake thermal efficiency increases.
