This quasi-experimental study aimed to determine the effectivity of the CTL approach with conventional learning toward student's mathematical problem solving ability. Design used in this study was a post-test only control design. The population in this study are all student’s in 7th Grade of SMPN 26 Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2012/2013. The sample are all student’s of class VII-B and VII-C choosed by using purposive sampling. Based on the result of hipotesis test, the average of student’s mathematical problem solving ability and student’s mastery learning at class using CTL approach is more than that of using conventional learning in the significant level 5%. So, it was concluded that the CTL approach effective to enhance student’s mathematical problem solving ability.Keywords: Effectivity, CTL Approach, Mathematical Problem Solving
