HARGA DIRI DAN PRESTASI BELAJAR PADA REMAJA YANG OBESITAS

Abstract

tubuh yang tidak sesuai dengan harapan masyarakat dapat berpengaruh pada hargadiri dan prestasi belajar mereka. Harga diri dan prestasi belajar saling berhubungan,dimana harga diri mempengaruhi prestasi belajar dan prestasi belajar mempengaruhiharga diri. Remaja yang menderita obesitas sering diasosiasikan dengan memilikiharga diri yang rendah. Lebih lanjut, obesitas juga berpengaruh pada prestasi belajar.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat hubungan harga diri dan prestasibelajar tersebut pada remaja obesitas. Subyek berjumlah 31 orang, terdiri dari 18 lakilakidan 13 perempuan, berusia antara 14 tahun hingga 18 tahun. Seluruh subyekmerupakan siswa SMA dari 3 sekolah di Jakarta. Skala harga diri disusun berdasarkanCoopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (1967) dan prestasi belajar dilihat berdasarkannilai rata-rata ulangan harian. Korelasi Pearson menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapathubungan yang signifikan antara harga diri dengan prestasi belajar pada remaja yangobesitas. Hasil ini dapat disebabkan adanya faktor lain yang terkait dengan harga diridan prestasi belajar serta kemampuan lain yang dimiliki subyek.AbstractObesity is overweight condition which is impinged quite many of adolescens. As amatter of fact, body shapes that do not conform with society expectations can affect selfesteemand academic achievement of adolescene. Self-esteem and academicachievement are related, in which self-esteem could affects academic achievement andthe reverse, academic achievement could affects self-esteem. Obesity in teenagers areoften associated with low self-esteem. Furthermore, obesity also has an effect onacademic achievement. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship betweenself-esteem and academic achievement at the youth obesity. It’s succeeded to recruit 31subjects, comprising 18 male and 13 female, aged between 14 years to 18 years. Thewhole subject is high school students from three schools in Jakarta. Self-esteem scalebased on Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (1967) and academic achievement basedon the average value of daily tests. Pearson correlation showed that there is nosignificant relationship between self-esteem with academic achievement in this kind ofadolescent. This result can be caused by other factors associated with self-esteem andacademic achievement and other skills possessed by subject.
