Abstract

AbstractThe aims of this study is to probe student’s misconceptions about Newton’s laws used Individual Demonstration Interview (IDI) in mother tongue at SMP Negeri 1 Ketapang. This research formed as descriptive survey research that involving 15 studens as sample.  Purposive sampling was used in this study, samples were selected based on their learning acquisition that divided to be high, middle and low category. The Individual Demonstraton Interview’s interview guidelines used Malay Dialect Ketapang to describe student’s misconceptions. The analysis showed that students thought static obejct doesn’t have force, if there’s no force so the force resultan is nothing too, unmove object because of gravity and friction force, external force don’t effect to force resultan, car’s accelaration were more small becauce force‘s more small too, direction of friction force and tire’s car always opposite with car’s motion, displacement as reaction force while walking. Futhermore total student’s misconceptions on learning acquisition category high, middle and low is almost same. This research is expected can be refference to probe student’s misconception in mother tongue.Keywords:     Misconceptions, Newton’s Laws, Mother Tongue, Individual Demonstration Interview (IDI)
