HUBUNGAN ANTARA KEMAMPUAN MATEMATIKA DENGAN KEMAMPUAN MENYELESAIKAN SOAL FISIKA PADA MATERI GERAK PARABOLA

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian korelasional ini menganalisis konsep-konsep matematika yang diperlukan untuk menyelesaikan soal fisika, serta mengukur hubungan antara keduanya pada materi gerak parabola di MAN 2 Filial Pontianak. Sampel penelitian adalah Sampel Jenuh yaitu, 22 orang siswa kelas XI IPA. Instrumen penelitian berupa dua tes esai yaitu tes kemampuan matematika dan tes kemampuan menyelesaikan soal fisika. Masing-masing terdiri dari 8 butir soal. Koefisien reliabilitas kedua tes berturut-turut adalah = 0,68 dan = 0,66. Ditemukan tiga konsep matematika yang diperlukan dalam menyelesaikan soal fisika pada materi gerak parabola yaitu: konsep aritmatika, konsep aljabar dan konsep trigonometri. Hasil uji korelasi menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang positif antara kemampuan matematika dan kemampuan menyelesaikan soal fisika dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar  0,55. Implikasinya, dalam pembelajaran fisika perlu dipertimbangkan  kemampuan matematika para siswa.   Kata kunci:    Korelasional, Kemampuan Matematika, Kemampuan Menyelesaikan Soal Fisika, Gerak Parabola Abstract: This correlational study was conducted to analyse mathematics concepts in solving physics problem and relationship between them about parabolic motion at MAN 2 Filial Pontianak. A total 22 students were selected from class XI IPA by using statured sampling. The data collection used two essay tests; a mathematics ability test (of 8-item) and a physics problem solving ability test (of 8-item). The reliability coefficients of the tests consecutively were = 0,68 dan = 0,66. Findings revealed there are three necessary mathematics concepts in solving physics problems: arithmetic concepts, algebra concepts and trigonometry concepts. Correlational analysis indicated that there is a positive relationship between mathematics ability and students?abilities to solve physics problem (r = 0.55). The implication is the students?mathematical abilities to be considered in teaching-learning physics.
