The objectives of this research are: (1) to describe the steps on the application of scientific approach with video media in improving poem writing skills for the fifth grade of SD Negeri Kembaran in the academic year of 2015/2016 and (2) to improve poem writing skills through the application of scientific approach with video media for the fifth grade of SD Negeri Kembaran in the academic year of 2015/2016. This research is a collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted within three cycles. Subjects of this research were 23 students. The results of this research show that: (1) the steps of the application of scientific approach with video media are as follow: (a) watch video, (b) ask questions based on video, (c) collect information based on video, (d) think deeply, and (e) communicate information. (2) the application of scientific approach with video media can improve essay writing skills for the fifth grade of SD Negeri Kembaran in the academic year of 2015/2016.Keywords: scientific approach, video media, essay writing skill Abstrak: Penerapan Pendekatan Saintifik dengan Media Video dalam Peningkatan Keterampilan Menulis Puisi di Kelas V SD Negeri Kembaran Tahun Ajaran 2015/2016. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan penerapan langkah-langkah pendekatan saintifik degan media video dalam peningkatan keterampilan menulis puisi di kelas V SD Negeri Kembaran tahun ajaran 2015/2016 dan (2) meningkatkan keterampilan menulis puisi siswa melalui penerapan pendekatan saintifik degan media video di kelas V SD Negeri Kembaran tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri Kembaran yang berjumlah 23 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) penerapan pendekatan saintifik dengan media video dilaksanakan dengan langkah-langkah: (a) mengamati video, (b) menanya berdasarkan video, (c) mengumpulkan informasi berdasarkan video, (d) menalar, dan (e) mengkomunikasikan; serta (2) penerapan pendekatan saintifik dengan media video dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis puisi di kelas V SD Negeri Kembaran tahun ajaran 2015/2016.  Kata Kunci: pendekatan saintifik, media video, keterampilan menulis puisi
