Abstract

Masyarakat pesisir Jepara percaya jika tidak melakukan tradisi sedekah laut atau melakukan tradisi sedekah laut tetapi ada sesaji yang tidak komplit maka akan terjadi musibah dan hasil tangkapan laut tidak melimpah. Keyakinan masyarakat pesisir Jepara tersebut menjadi salah satu faktor terpenting bagi bertahannya tradisi sedekah laut. Tradisi sedekah laut membuat perasaan masyarakat Jepara nyaman dan merasa aman pada saat melaut. Hal ini membuat peneliti tertarik ingin mengetahui bagaimana sistem kepercayaan (belief) masyarakat pesisir yang berprofesi sebagai nelayan mengenai tradisi yang dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dinamika masyarakat pesisir di daerah Jepara terhadap tradisi sedekah laut dan untuk mengetahui gambaran sistem kepercayaan (belief) masyarakat pesisir di daerah Jepara. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 5 subjek masyarakat pesisir yang berprosesi sebagai nelayan yang tinggal di desa Jobokuto, kecamatan Jepara, Kabupaten Jepara. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara yang selanjutnya di transkrip. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat beberapa tema besar berkaitan dengan pelaksanaan tradisi sedekah laut yaitu alasan, dampak, tujuan, keyakinan, prosesi, hukum, pelaksanaan, pihak yang terlibat, dan emosi masyarakat pesisir Jepara.The Jepara coastal community believes that if they do not carry out the tradition of sea alms or carry out the culture of sea alms, but there are incomplete offerings, disaster will occur, and the sea catch will not be abundant. The belief of the Jepara coastal community is one of the most critical factors for the survival of the sea alms tradition. The tradition of sea alms makes the Jepara people feel comfortable and feel safe when going to sea. This makes the researcher interested to know how the belief system (belief) of coastal communities who work as fishermen about the traditions carried out. This study aims to determine the dynamics of the seaside village in the Jepara area ofthe sea alms tradition and to find a picture of the belief system (belief) of coastal communities in the Jepara area. This type of research is qualitative research. This research was conducted on five subjects of coastal communities who process as fishermen living in the village of Jobokuto, Jepara sub-district, Jepara Regency. Data collection uses interview techniques, which are then transcribed. The results showed that there were several significant themes related to the implementation of the sea alms tradition, namely reason, impact, goals, beliefs, procession, law, execution, parties involved, and emotions of the Jepara coastal community.
