The writer analyzes about the main character’s non-suicidal self-injury, the underlying causes of the main character’s non-suicidal self-injury and how the main character cope with the consequence of non-suicidal self-injury in Kathleen Glasgow’s novel Girl in Pieces. The method of the research is descriptive qualitative. The data are taken from every pages from the novel which includes every quotations or conversations with the method of reading, underlining and repeating with everything related with this study. The analysis results from the novel Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow, the writer found out that there are several types of non-suicidal self-injury such as hitting, cutting, pinching, biting. grinding and kicking, there are several underlying causes of the main character’s non-suicidal self-injury found in the novel, such as loneliness, self-hatred, anxiety and bullies, then there are some ways found as to how the main character cope with non-suicidal self-injury found in the novel, such as new environment, people and their compassion, natural changes, forgiveness and positive news.
