The objectives of this research was to obtain information about the implementation of School Literacy Movement (SLM) in order to develop reading interest of State High School 1 Banyuasin I students. This research used qualitative method. Data were collected through interview, observation and documentation. Subjects of this research were the students and the teachers of State High School 1 Banyuasin I. The results showed that (1) the implementation of School Literacy Movement (GLS) has entering the development stage, held through: 15 minutes reading activity; students have a collection of reading response journals, literacy corners in each class, the representative from each class tells a summary of the book he or she has read in a morning assembly, the celebration of special occasions related to literacy theme; (2) the students’ reading interest is getting increased, followed by the increasing of students’ skill in summarizing books and in communication.
