PROFIL KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR ALJABAR SISWA SMP PADA MATERI PERSAMAAN LINEAR SATU VARIABEL DITINJAU DARI PERBEDAAN GENDER

Abstract

Ability of algebraic thinking can be developed through mathematics learning. This study aims to describe how the ability of algebraic thinking of junior high school students is reviewed by gender differences. Subjects consisted of 6 students each of two from high, medium, and low math skills. Data collection uses test questions, interview guides and documens. Test contens problem of linear equations of one variable. The results showed that all subjects were highly skilled and medium-skilled male subjects who met algebraic thinking indicators. The subject of high mathematics men is more prominent in the Algebra indicator as the language of mathematics, the subject of women with high mathematics is more prominent in the algebraic indicator as a generalized form of arrhythmati and the subject of mathematical men is more prominent in indicators of representational ability. Differences in mathematical and gender skills can be used to map students' algebraic thinking skills. Abstrak Kemampuan berpikir aljabar siswa perlu dikembangkan melalui pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana kemampuan berpikir aljabar siswa SMP ditinjau perbedaan gender. Subjek terdiri dari 6 siswa masing-masing dua dari kemampuan matematika tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Pengumpulan data menggunakan soal tes, pedoman wawancara dan dokumentasi. Soal tes berbentuk soal cerita materi persamaan linear satu variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua subjek berkemampuan tinggi dan subjek laki-laki berkemampuan sedang yang memenuhi indikator berpikir aljabar. Subjek laki-laki berkemampuan matematika tinggi lebih menonjol pada indikator Aljabar sebagai bahasa matematika, subjek perempuan berkemampuan matematika tinggi lebih menonjol pada indikator aljabar sebagai bentuk generalisasi aritmati dan subjek laki-laki berkemampuan matematika sedang lebih menonjol pada indikator kemampuan representasi. Perbedaan kemampuan matematika dan gender dapat digunakan dalam memetakan kemampuan berpikir aljabar siswa. Kata kunci: Berpikir, aljabar, gender
