Abstrak: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan dan juga kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa SD kelas 1 ketika menyelesaikan soal operasi penjumlahan bilangan. Penelitian ini melibatkan 49 orang siswa kelas 1 sekolah dasar negeri (SDN) 38 Ampenan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode tes, wawancara dan observasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan deskriptip kuantitatif dengan melihat persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan operasi hitung penjumlahan dan pengurangan bilangan pada siswa SD kelas 1 berdasarkan tes yang dilakukan mancapai kategori tinggi walaupun hasil rata-rata masil perlu ditingkatkan. Peran aktif guru dan orang tua diharapkan mampu membuat siswa lebih menguasai materi tentang operasi hitung penjumlahan dan pengurangan.Abstract: This research is a survey research with the aim to find out the abilities and also the difficulties faced by elementary school students in grade 1 when solving the problem of adding numbers. This study involved 49 students from grade 1 in 38 Ampenan public elementary schools. Data collection is done by the method of test, interview and observation. The data obtained were analyzed using quantitative descriptive by looking at percentages. The results showed that the ability to count operations and reduce numbers in grade 1 elementary school students based on tests conducted reached a high category even though the average results need to be improved. The active role of the teacher and parent is expected to be able to make students better mastered the material about the calculation of addition and subtraction operations.
