Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of learning problem based learning (PBL) in improving students' original thinking ability in buffer solution material. The method used is quasi experiment with pretest - posttest non equivalent control group design. This research was conducted in one SMA in Lampung Tengah district. Population in this research is all student of class XI IPA SMA. The effectiveness is determined based on the t-test on n-Gain and supported by the teacher's ability as well as the effect size test. The results showed that the average n-Gain values of original thinking skills in experimental class were medium criteria, very high teacher ability, and medium effect size. The conclusion of this research is effective problem-based learning and has a moderate effect size to improve the ability of original thinking on buffer solution. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir orisinil siswa pada materi larutan penyangga. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan pretest – posttest non equivalent control group design.  Penelitian ini dilakukan di salah satu SMA di kabupaten Lampung Tengah. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA. Keefektifan ditentukan berdasarkan uji-t terhadap n-Gain dan didukung dengan kemampuan guru serta uji ukuran pengaruh. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa rata-rata nilai n-Gain keterampilan berpikir orisinil pada kelas eksperimen berkriteria sedang, kemampuan guru yang sangat tinggi, dan ukuran pengaruh yang sedang. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu problem based learning efektif dan mempunyai ukuran pengaruh yang sedang untuk meningkatkan kemampuanan berpikir orisinil pada larutan penyangga.Kata Kunci: problem based learning, berpikir orisinil, larutan penyangga
