<![CDATA[Tembang(poetry) is one of the important things in the socio-religious life of the Balinese people. They have four types of traditional tembang; they are sekar rare (gegendingan), sekar alit (macapat), sekarmadia (kidung), and sekaragung (kakawin). Tembang is intensively used in the socio-religious life of the Balinese people. It cannot be separated from the religious life of the Bali Hindus. In almost every ritual, especially the large-scale rituals such as the temple festival, the cremation ceremony ‘ngaben’, and tooth filing ceremony and so forth tembang is recited.
