Abstract The tendency of Mathematic learning process at present time is still dependent on the teacher. The result is less developed student’s problem solving ability. The application of Problem Based Learning Model was considered as its solution. The purpose of this research was to know the effectiveness of application Problem Based Learning model in learning trigonometry on grade X Science 2 SMAN 3 Pontianak. The form of this research was a quasi- experimental design with pre-experimental design. The sample of this research are X Science 2. The ability of teacher to manage learning is in good category with average from two treatments is 3.13, the student’s activity during learning is in active category with average from two treatments is 3.05 and the students have problem solving ability in high or very high category don’t get 85% but only 50%. It means that application of Problem Based Learning model is enough effective in learning trigonometry on grade X science 2 SMAN 3 Pontianak.
