Abstract

ABSTRAK PERAN MOX SEBAGAI BAHAN BAKAR NUKLIR DI MASA DEPAN. Berdasarkan studi estimasi pasokan bahan bakar nuklir, diperkirakan bahwa mulai tahun 2000 akan terjadi kesenjangan antara produksi dan permintaan uranium di dunia. Kekurangan ini akan berpengaruh terhadap pasokan bahan bakar nuklir untuk PLTN dan terhadap harga bahan bakar nuklir. Hal ini akan memberi peluang pada bahan-bakar MOX (Mixed OXide) untuk lebih banyak berperan. Kecenderungan ini terlihat dengan kenaikan pemanfaatan bahan bakar MOX sebagai substitusi bahan bakar uranium untuk reaktor air ringan (Light Water Reactor, LWR).   ABSTRACT THE ROLE OF MOX FOR NUCLEAR FUEL IN THE FUTURE. Based on nuclear fuel supply estimation study, it's predicted that starting in the year 2000 there will be a worldwide lack of uranium supply. The lack of supply will influence the nuclear fuel supply for Nuclear Power Plants and nuclear fuel costs. This will give opportunity to Mixed Oxide (MOX) fuel to have more important role. The trend is seen by the increasing usage of MOX as the substitute nuclear fuel in the Light Water Reactor (LWR).
