<![CDATA[This research is motivated by the frequent occurrence of errors and discrepancies in determining capital letters and punctuation of fifth grade students of SD Negeri 161 Pekanbaru. The purpose of this study was to find out and describe the ability of fifth grade students to determine capital letters and punctuation marks in narrative essays. This research was conducted in class V of 161 Pekanbaru Elementary School. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. The sample in this study were fifth grade students with 84 students. The data collection instruments used are in the form of reading texts in the form of essays that are still misspellings and punctuation marks. The results showed that the students' ability to determine capital letters and punctuation as a whole indicator belonged to a sufficient category with an average value of 59.44.]]>
