Abstract

Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is one of the frequent clinical oral diseases causing painful ulcerationin the oral cavity. It is easy to define the clinical features and characteristics of this disease, etiology andpathogenesis remains unclear. As a result, the treatment options are still inadequate with the ability to reducethe duration, healing time, rate of recurrence and conclusive intervention. The review article aims to discussthe pathogenesis, clinical features, different treatment modalities and updates that are currently available andoffer the clinician a clear and detailed picture of how to deal with RAS in an appropriate manner.
