Abstract

Periodontal disease is known around the world as a significant health concern and a common cause ofadult tooth loss. Periodontal diseases are common inflamed disorders such as gingivitis and periodontitiscaused by the pathogens present in the biofilm which is seen subgingivally such as Aggregatibacteractinomycetemcomitans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Treponema denticola and Tannerella forsythia thatactivate inflammatory, innate and adaptive responses of the immune system. The immune system plays avital role in preservation from pathogens with the maintenance of commensal microbiota at the mucosalsurface.
