Abstract

This article discusses the religious tourism object of Gunung Kemukus, located in Sragen Regency, Central Java. The uniqueness of this religious tourism lies in its ritual procedures with the rites of the Tomb of Prince Samudro and the Ontangulan Spring. As crowds of pilgrims and visitors arrive, the impact on changes in the perspective of cultural symbols, including environmental preservation and preservation of cultural rites. By using a qualitative approach, analytical descriptive method and ecological perspective, it was found that the Ontrowulan Spring can be a bridge for environmental preservation efforts, which will have an impact on nature preservation and the convenience of pilgrims performing rituals. Local wisdom in the form of the myth of the Water Spring Ontrowulan has become a symbol in environmental preservation in the Gunung Kemukus region. Efforts to preserve the environment and social environment will have an impact on the preservation of cultural sites on Gunung Kemukus.
