Abstract

This study wants to reveal or provide answers about the effect of labor, population and unemployment on economic growth in Sumatra Island. This type of research is a quantitative study using purposive sampling. Where in this study is panel data used for 6 years so that the number of samples obtained 30 samples. Data processing is done using the Eviews 9 application with the data analysis technique used is the panel data estimation model selection (common effect, fixed effect, random effect), classical assumption test (normality test, multicollinearity test, autocorrelation test, heteroscedasticity test), hypothesis test (t test, F test, determination coefficient test), and panel data multiple regression test. The results obtained indicate that there is no effect of labor and population by partial test on economic growth in Sumatra Island. Meanwhile, unemployment has an effect on economic growth partially. So that simultaneously it can be concluded that labor, total population, and unemployment together (simultaneously) have no effect on economic growth. R2 results of 0.760455, these results explain that the variables of labor, population and unemployment are 76.04 percent. While the remaining 23.96 percent is influenced by other variables outside of this study
