Abstract

In this paper, we will describe the thoughts of humanism and Islamic education. Then the biographies and the concept of humanistic thoughts of the two figures, namely Abdurrahman Wahid and Paulo Freire. Similarities and differences between Abdurrahman Wahid and Paulo Freire's theories of humanism. The method used in this paper is to use literature study. The source of the data needed is about the reference book from KH. Abdrahman Wahid and Paulo Freire. The final part is the application of the concept of humanism from Abdurrahman Wahid and Paulo Freire in Islamic education. Based on this, the results of data analysis from the study of this paper show that the application of the Freire humanism concept raises three main points, namely about Awareness, Problem solving education and the Concept of Reading Alphabetization. It was different from Wahid who applied the concept of humanism by linking knowledge, fiqh and morals with humanity through his humanism education concept which produced education that was tolerant and instilled a sense of humanity in students.
