The Covid-19 pandemic caused losses to the national economy, which impacted the decline of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and therefore, there is a need to have legal protection for MSMEs. This paper examines and aims to determine the urgency of legal protection for MSMEs, legal protection provided to MSMEs, and the bank’s role in legal protection. This paper has both theoretical and practical uses. Using the normative juridical method, the study results addressed that MSMEs need legal protection because they have an important role in the national economy and are considered the main pillar of the people’s economy. Legal protection is carried out by issuing various legal instruments aimed at helping MSMEs to survive, rise from Covid-19, and develop properly. Banks have an important role in legal protection for MSMEs, namely supporting national economic recovery and fostering/empowering MSMEs. Given the importance of MSMEs, a continuance of legal protection is needed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Banks also need to increase their role and become good development agents in order to promote the people’s welfare. AbstrakPandemi Covid-19 menimbulkan kerugian pada perekonomian nasional yang berimbas pada terpuruknya UMKM, oleh karenanya perlu ada pelindungan hukum terhadap UMKM. Untuk itu tulisan ini akan mengkaji dan bertujuan untuk mengetahui urgensi pelindungan hukum terhadap UMKM, pelindungan hukum yang diberikan kepada UMKM, dan peran bank dalam pelindungan hukum tersebut. Tulisan ini memiliki kegunaan teoritis dan praktis. Dengan menggunakan metode yuridis normatif diperoleh hasil UMKM perlu mendapat pelindungan hukum karena memiliki peran penting dalam perekonomian nasional dan sebagai pilar utama ekonomi kerakyatan. Pelindungan hukum dilakukan dengan mengeluarkan berbagai instrumen hukum yang ditujukan untuk membantu UMKM bertahan, bangkit dari Covid-19, dan berkembang dengan baik. Bank memiliki peran penting dalam pelindungan hukum terhadap UMKM yaitu mendukung PEN dan membina/memberdayakan UMKM. Mengingat pentingnya UMKM, pelindungan hukum perlu terus dilakukan pada masa pandemi Covid-19. Bank juga perlu meningkatkan perannya dan menjadi agen pembangunan yang baik agar kesejahteraan rakyat terwujud.
