ABSTRACT Low Back Pain (LBP) is a musculoskeletal disorder caused by various diseases and poor body activity which result in muscle spasms (muscle tension) is the most common cause of LBP. Rhythmic breathing and massage techniques are believed to reduce the intensity of pain in the skelet muscles experiencing spasm. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of rhythmic breath distraction techniques and massage for muscle spasm pain on the incidence of low back pain stevedoring workers. This research was conducted from September until October 2020 at the Tenau Kupang Harbor. This type of research is pre-experiment research design using one group pre-post design. Sample on this research totaled 33 people. Result of this research obtained by analysis data using wilcoxon test which showed that is effect of rhythmic breath distraction techniques and massage for muscle spasm pain on the incidence of low back pain stevedoring workers at Tenau Kupang Harbor after being given intervention for 3 consecutive days. Result of this research are expected to provide information and increase knowledge to be able to use rhythmic breath distraction techniques and massage as therapy to reduce the pain muscle spasms of LBP that are felt for LBP sufferers especially stevedoring workers at the tenau kupang harbor.
