Abstract

In recent times there has been increased number of complaints and lawsuits against doctors. Thereforehaving knowledge about Medico Legal issues is as important to the practice of medicine as clinical skills.The present study was conducted to evaluate Awareness and Knowledge about Medico Legal issues amongInterns and Post Graduate Students. Total 140 interns and 110 Post Graduate students participated in thestudy. Post graduate students had more knowledge about Medico Legal issues and consent than internsbut there was deficit of knowledge about Injury and Death certificates. About Consumers protection act(COPRA)there is little awarenessbut regarding Human organ transplantation Act (HOTA) and Hospitalindemnity Insurance awareness should be increased. Our study conveys that action should be taken to coverthe lack of awareness and knowledge for doctors as well as patientssafety.
