Changes in our understanding about the caries process, advent of new adhesive restorativematerials and the possibilities of remineralization of demineralized dental tissues helps us to exploredifferent techniques in caries management. Selective caries removal is now considered an efficient andevidence based approach in deep caries management and focuses on maximum retention of tooth materialthus avoiding the probability of pulp exposure to provide a sound peripheral bondable surface for restorationand creating excellent hermetic seal.]]>
