Abstract

Lung cancer is a tumor that grows in the lungs. The main cause of 90% in men is due to smoking and experienced a sharp increase at the age of 45-49 years. This study aims to determine the relationship of knowledge of men at middle age about lung cancer with smoking habits in the work area of ​​West Martapura Health Center. The research method uses descriptive-analytic, the design uses correlation with Cross-Sectional approach with the male population at middle age, the sampling technique used is Accidental Sampling with a sample size of 53 respondents. The results of this study stated that there was no significant relationship between knowledge of men at middle age about lung cancer and smoking habits carried out by the Spearman Rank Test, obtained p = 0.074. Thus p> a, and known Correlation Coefficient (correlation coefficient) -0,247 then Ha is rejected. It is expected that health workers need to provide counseling about lung cancer in smokers so that the knowledge obtained can change the behavior of smoking habits.
