Background: The high relapse rate that reaches 67% in patients with schizophrenia is caused by multiple factors, one of them is lack of family support. Patients with schizophrenia need family support during their regiment process to prevent the relapse from occurring. Aim: To identify the correlation of family support (emotional, instrumental, informational and value or reward supports) and relapse prevention in patients with schizophrenia in Sungai Bangkong Psychiatric Hospital, Pontianak. Method: This is a cross-sectional study. The study sample was collected with non-probability purposive sampling method with a total of 81 respondents. Instrument used in this study is a questionnaire with 16 questions in total. Chi-square test was used for the bivariate analysis. Result: Characteristics of respondents were at the age of the early elderly, with male gender, high school education and private or entrepreneurial work. The analysis shows that there was a correlation between family support and relapse prevention in patients with schizophrenia (p = 0.028). Conclusion: There was a correlation between family support and relapse prevention in patients with schizophrenia in Sungai Bangkong Psychiatric Hospital, Pontianak.
