Penanda Modalitas Intensional Kaha᷉p dan Buh dalam Bahasa Enggano

Abstract

This paper aims to reveal the meaning of intentional modality in the Enggano language. This modality is characterized by the lexical forms of kaha᷉p and buh and the morphophonemic process of transitive verbs that follow the two lexical markers. The object of this research is Enggano transitive sentence which contains intentional modality. This study uses a qualitative-ethnographic descriptive approach. The results showed that the intentional modality markers of kaha᷉p and buh had different contexts. The word kaha᷉p means 'want', while buh means 'will'. However, both modality markers grammatically have the same behavior when followed by transitive verbs, namely the process of grammaticalization (affixation and morphophonemic). The difference between the two lies in the prefix that accompanies the transitive verbs that signify the modalities of kaha᷉p and buh.Tulisan ini bertujuan mengungkap makna modalitas intensional dalam bahasa Enggano. Modalitas ini ditandai oleh bentuk leksikal kaha᷉p dan buh serta proses morfofonemik verba transitif yang mengikuti kedua pemarkah leksikal tersebut. Objek penelitian ini berupa kalimat transitif bahasa Enggano yang mengandung modalitas intensional. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif-etnografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penanda modalitas intensional kaha᷉p dan buh memiliki konteks yang berbeda. Kata kaha᷉p memiliki makna ‘ingin’, sedangkan buh bermakna ‘akan’. Namun, kedua penanda modalitas tersebut secara gramatikal memiliki perilaku yang sama ketika diikuti oleh verba transitif, yaitu adanya proses gramatikalisasi (afiksasi dan morfofonemik). Pembedaan keduanya terletak pada prefiks yang menyertai verba transitif penanda modalitas kaha᷉p dan buh.
