<![CDATA[Abstract: The quality of information greatly affects the performance and the work of the managementof education and training for participants. Although at the University of Surakarta has providedservices to the computer-based academic information, but the way data management is not effectivewhen we need a quick information with certain criteria. The existence of data management systemsare fragmented require a control system to control all existing information systems with the tracks asdesired. So the system must be combined into a single unit of data processing systems which canprovide information as and when needed, of course, by those who are entitled to use the system.In an institution whether public or private there are very many encountered in the use of computers, infact any institution there are many computer and the data is used a lot of people, but in reality still usestand alone computer (standalone computer), that data is only used on one computer , so when otherpeople will use existing data on the computer is forced to go through other media such as floppy disks,hard drives, flash drive or another, so it took a lot of time and constraints, resulting in the exchange ofdata can not be fast as expected.In a computer network system not only facilitate the exchange of information or data contained withinthe establishments of the course but if these institutions will be connected to the internet then the datanetwork system that can be applied and notified to the internet in accordance with the needs of thedata to be notified to the internet ,Keywords: Academic Information SystemAbstraksi: Mutu informasi sangat mempengaruhi kinerja dan hasil kerja dari pengelola pendidikan danbagi perserta pendidikan. Walaupun di Universitas Surakarta telah disediakan layanan informasiakademik dengan berbasiskan komputer, tetapi cara pengelolaan data tidaklah efektif manakaladibutuhkan suatu informasi yang cepat dengan kriteria tertentu. Adanya sistem pengelolaan data yangterpecah-pecah memerlukan sistem pengendali untuk mengendalikan semua sistem informasi yangada sesuai alur yang diinginkan. Sehingga sistem harus digabungkan menjadi satu kesatuan sistempengolahan data yang dapat memberikan informasi sewaktu-waktu dibutuhkan, tentunya oleh orangorangyang berhak menggunakan sistem tersebut.Dalam suatu instansi baik pemerintah atau swasta masih banyak sekali dijumpai dalampenggunaan komputer, sebenarnya di suatu instansi terdapat banyak sekali komputer dan datatersebut dipakai banyak orang, tetapi pada kenyataannya masih menggunakan komputer stand alone(komputer mandiri), yaitu data hanya dipakai pada satu komputer, sehingga apabila orang lain akanmenggunakan data yang ada di komputer tersebut terpaksa harus melalui media lain seperti disket,hardisk, flash drive atau yang lainnya, sehingga hal tersebut menyita banyak waktu dan kendala,sehingga dalam pertukaran data tidak bisa cepat seperti yang diharapkan.Dalam sistem jaringan komputer tidak hanya mempermudah pertukaran informasi atau datayang ada didalam satu instansi tersebut saja tetapi apabila instansi tersebut akan disambungkan keinternet maka dengan sistem jaringan data tersebut dapat di aplikasikan dan di informasikan keinternet sesuai dengan kebutuhan data yang akan di informasikan ke internet.Kata Kunci : Sistem Informasi Akademik]]>
