Abstract

Reproductive biology (sex ratio, stage of sexual maturity, gonadosomatic index, fecundity, and egg diameter) of bonylip barb inhabiting Sidenreng Lake were presented. A total of 692 specimens were collected from March to June 2009, among them 143 were males and 549 were females, so the sex ratio of male to female was 1:3.84. The males became sexually mature at a smaller size than females. Percentage of mature males was smaller than mature females. There was an increase in the gonadosomatic index in the sexual maturity stage I to IV and a decrease in the sexual maturity stage V, both in males and females. The fecundity ranged from 1,718 to 34,045 eggs. Frequency distribution of egg diameter suggested that bonylip barb is a total spawner. AbstrakStudi tentang aspek reproduksi ikan nilem, Osteochilus vittatus (Valenciennes, 1842), telah dilakukan pada bulan Ma-ret-Juni 2009 di Danau Sidenreng yang meliputi nisbah kelamin, tingkat kematangan gonad (TKG), indeks kematangan gonad (IKG), fekunditas, dan diameter telur. Jumlah contoh ikan yang diperoleh selama penelitian sebanyak 692 ekor yang terdiri atas 143 ekor jantan dan 549 ekor betina, sehingga nisbah kelamin ikan jantan dan betina adalah 143:549 atau 1:3,84. Ikan nilem jantan mencapai matang gonad pertama kali relatif lebih kecil daripada ikan betina. Persentase nilem jantan yang tertangkap pada saat matang gonad lebih sedikit jika dibandingkan dengan nilem betina. Nilai IKG ikan nilem jantan dan betina semakin meningkat dari TKG I sampai IV kemudian mengalami penurunan pada TKG V. Fekunditas ikan nilem berkisar 1.718-34.045 butir. Ikan nilem yang terdapat di perairan Danau Sidenreng memijah secara total.
