Abstract

The global situation is currently still in an atmosphere of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of October 2, 2021, the Covid-19 situation in Indonesia is 4,218,142 positive patients, 4,042,215 recovered patients, and 142,115 dead patients. This incident continues to cause many problems, one of which is unemployment. Employees affected by laid off consist of various groups of people, one of which is a student. There are quite a lot of students in the special employee class (extension class) who have been laid off on campus. Through interviews with representatives of students who were laid off, it was concluded that they were experiencing stress due to this incident. To avoid stress or excessive negative traits in individuals, social support is needed for individuals. Students who are laid off and get social support are easier to move forward and find solutions to these problems. Social support can be influenced and affect the field of entrepreneurship. Not only that, social support can also affect entrepreneurial interest and entrepreneurial motivation. To prove this statement, this study aims to determine the effect of social support on the entrepreneurial interest of students who were laid off during the COVID-19 pandemic and the effect of social support on the entrepreneurial motivation of students who were laid off during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is a descriptive and associative research with a quantitative approach. The study began with a descriptive test to describe the research data in detail and then continued with an associative test. Participants in this study were students who were laid off during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The number of students who took part in the study were 207 students consisting of 105 women (50.7%) and 102 men (49.3%). The results of the descriptive analysis showed that students' social support was dominated by students who had low social support. The highest dimension of social support is the family dimension. In addition, the effect of social support on interest in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial motivation shows that there is an influence.
