Problem. The main entry heading is one of the important aspects in cataloging where there are problems and challenges faced by librarians in determining it. Aim. The purpose of this study is to obtain an overview and analyze these problems and challenges. Method. The author uses the literature review method where the author looks for references from journals and books for later analysis according to the focus of the study. Research Findings. The author finds that leaders need to be present in the uniform perception among librarians in determining the title of the main entry in the catalog. Conclusion. The researcher concludes that in determining the title of the main entry in the catalog, it is necessary to follow AACR 2 and there are problems related to facilities and human resources faced by librarians and library leaders in determining the title of the main entry. As for the challenge, in the era of digitalization, librarians need to be adaptive and innovative in organizing the field of processing library materials, especially in determining the title of the main entry.
