BUSINESS ENGLISH FOR SHARI’A BANKING STUDENTS AT POLITEKNIK NEGERI SEMARANG (POLINES)

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah riset pendahuluan yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi Bahasa Inggris Bisnis yang perlu dipelajari dan diajarkan oleh mahasiswa dan dosen Politeknik Negeri Semarang (seterusnya disebut Polines), dan yang digunakan oleh stakeholders Perbankan Syariah di dunia kerja di Kota Semarang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Bahasa Inggris Bisnis sudah relevan dan skor rata-rata penggunaanBahasa Inggris Bisnis di dunia kerja adalah positif (0,74). Kebutuhan rata-rata Bahasa Inggris Bisnis adalah 1,50%. Enam topik bisnis Bahasa Inggris Bisnis yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh dunia kerja adalah Pertemuan Bisnis (1,65%), Menyambut Tamu Asing (1,63%), Bisnis  Korespondensi (1,54%), Permintaan (order) terkait denganPelanggan (1,46%), Menulis Dokumen (1,44%), dan Bisnis (1,30%). (104 kata).This research is a preliminary study aiming at identifying Business English needed to be learned by students, taught by lecturers Semarang State Polytechnic (hereinafter Polines), and used by stakeholders of Islamic Banking in the business world in the city of Semarang. The result of the present study showed that BE is relevant and the average score of the use of English in the business world is positive (+.74). The average need of Business English is 1.50%. Business English topics which are highly needed by the business world are Business Meeting (1.65%), Attending to Foreign Guests (1.63%), Correspondence (1.54%), Order related to Customers (1.46%); Writing Document (1.44%), and Business Trip (1.30%).
