IMPLEMENTASI EKSPERIMEN OPEN INQUIRY UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN KONSEP DAN MENGEMBANGKAN NILAI KARAKTER MAHASISWA

Abstract

Abstrak ___________________________________________________________________ Degradasi karakter bangsa menuntut pemerintah menanamkan kembali pendidikan karakter dalam proses pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan eksperimen open inquiry dalam mengembangkan nilai karakter mahasiswa dan mengetahui keefektifan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep gelombang, serta mengetahui koefisien korelasi antara keduanya. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan jenis desain one group pretest and posttest design. Berdasarkan hasil uji gain didapatkan perkembangan nilai karakter mahasiswa sebesar 0,41 dengan kategori sedang dan peningkatan pemahaman konsep gelombang sebesar 0,71 dengan kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis diperoleh bahwa eksperimen open inquiry efektif untuk mengembangkan nilai karakter mahasiswa dan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep gelombang walaupun korelasi keduanya tidak signifikan. Abstract ___________________________________________________________________ Degradation of nation’s character demands the government to return character education in the learning process. The objective of this research to describe the open inquiry experiment to develop the student’s character value, to know the effectiveness to improve the understanding of wave concept and the coefficient of correlation between both. The method was one group pretest and posttest design experiment research. Based on the result of gain test, it was obtained that there was development of student’s character value of 0.41 with medium category and improvement of the understanding of wave concept of 0.71 with high category. Based on the data analysis, it is found that open inquiry experiment is effective to develop the student’s character value and to improve the understanding of wave concept although correlation between them wasn’t significant.
