<![CDATA[Abstract. In this article, the author examined the importance of the naming process for the person who bears that name. The story of the birth of John the Baptist represents the process of giving a name is not a trivial matter. Through exegesis of the text of Luke 1:57-66, it is revealed that naming children has a great meaning. Naming means carrying out God's mandate, which means humans carry out God-given initiatives. Therefore, the name given should reflect God's good purpose for the life of the child to whom the name is given.Abstrak. Dalam artikel ini, penulis akan mengkaji pentingnya proses pemberian nama bagi orang yang menyandang nama tersebut. Cerita kelahiran Yohanes Pembaptis merepresentasikan proses pemberian sebuah nama bukanlah perkara yang remeh. Melalui eksegesis terhadap teks Lukas 1:57-66 terungkap bahwa pemberian nama terhadap anak mengandung makna yang besar. Pemberian nama berarti menjalankan mandat Allah, yang berarti manusia menjalankan inisiatif yang diberikan Allah. Oleh karena itu, nama yang diberikan semestinya mencerminkan maksud Allah yang baik atas hidup anak yang kepadanya diberikan nama.]]>
