Kurikulum terbaru merupakan perubahan dari KTSP menjadi Kurikulum 2013 dimana mengusung konsep terbaru yaitu menggunakan pendekatan saintifik. Namun, berdasarkan hasil penelitian sebelumnya bahwa penerapan pendekatan tersebut, terutama dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris tidak berjalan dengan baik. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui persepsi para guru di Banjarmasin dan Martapura mengenai penerapan pendekatan saintifik tersebut berkenaan dengan peran mereka sebagai implementer dari kurikulum tersebut. Peneliti menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dan menggambarkan hasil penelitian secara qualitative. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa guru Bahasa Inggris memiliki pandangan positive dan negative terhadap pendekatan tersebut. Beberapa guru menilai penerapan ini sangat sulit dan tidak bisa dilaksanakan di sekolah pinggiran. Namun, disisi lain, beberapaberanggapan pendekatan ini sangat baik untuk mengaktifkan siswa dan melatih siswa menjadi mandiri. Kata Kunci: Kurikulum 2013, persepsi guru, pendekatan saintifik Abstract Indonesia curriculum has been changed for several time. The newest curriculum is the renewal of KTSP to Curriculum 2013 which proposes the new approach namely Scie ntific Approach. Unfortunately, previous study proved that the implementation of Scientific Approach did not run well. Therefore, this study aims at investigating the English teachers’ perception in Banjarmasin and Martapura towards the approach du e to their biggest role as the curriculum implementer. This study exerted qualitative research which was described descriptively. The result shows that teachers have positive and negative perceptions towards the approach. Some believe that it is hard to implement the approach due to some factors. However, some still believe that the approach may activate the students to participate in the teaching learning process and make them to be independent.
