<![CDATA[Material Development for Hospitality Program at Vocational High School in Surabaya Based on 2013 Curriculum Evy Kurniawati English Education, Language and Art Faculty, State University Surabaya evykurniawati@mhs.unesa.ac.id Abstrak Ada dua tujuan dalam penelitian ini. Pertama adalah untuk mengetahui isi yang harus dimasukkan dalam materi bahasa inggris untuk jurusan perhotelan berdasarkan dari hasil analisa kebutuhan siswa dan guru. Kedua adalah untuk mengetahui respon guru terhadap pengembangan materi untuk jurusan perhotelan di SMK 6 Surabaya yang disusun oleh peneliti. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif. Objek penelitian ini adalah buku teks K13. Tempat untuk melakukan penelitian ini adalah di SMK N 6 Surabaya. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk pertanyaan penelitian adalah kuesionnair dan instrumen untuk pertanyaan penelitian yang kedua adalah interview. Dalam pertanyaan penelitian pertama tentang isi yang harus dimasukkan ke dalam materi bahasa inggris untuk jurusan perhotelan, berdasarkan hasil dari analisa kebutuhan dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa berpendapat bahwa mendengarkan dan berbicara adalah kemampuan yang memiliki peran yang sangat penting untuk pekerjaan di masa depan dan komponen yag mereka butuhkan untuk dikuasai adalah pengayaan kosa kata dan pelafalan. Dalam hal input, jenis teks yang siswa inginkan dalam kemampuan mendengarkan adalah materi autentik, gambar monolog dan dialog yang berisi kosa kata baru sama seperti yang ada dalam kemampuan berbicara. Mengenai aktivitas, sebagian besar siswa lebih memilih untuk mengerjakan tugas tentang melengkapi paragraph rumpang pada aktivitas mendengarkan. Dalam aktivitas berbicara mereka lebih memilih melakukan bermain peran. Dalam aktivitas pengayaan kosa kata mereka lebih memilih untuk melengkapi kalimat rumpang. Sementara di aktivitas pelafalan, mendengarkan dan kemudian mengulangi cara guru melafalkan kata adalah aktivitas yang mereka inginkan. Selanjutnya, untuk pertanyaan penelitian kedua, guru merespon bahwa secara keseluruhan materi yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti adalah bagus karena tahap pemanasan, lima tahap pendekatan saintifik , latihan-latihan dan media disediakan dengan baik pada materi dan konten dalam percakapan serta kosa kata yang disediakan sangat berkaitan dengan perhotelan. This first is to explore the content that should be included in the English materials for Hospitality Program based on the result of needs analysis from the students and the teachers. The second is to know the teachers’ response towards the material development for Hospitality Program at SMKN 6 Surabaya designed by the researcher.The Research design of this research isqualitative. The object of this study is the textbook of K13. The setting to conduct this study is in SMK N 6 Surabaya. The instrument used for the first research question is semi structure questionnaire and the instrument for the second research question is interview guide. In the first research question about the content that should be included in the English materials for Hospitality Program, based on the result of needs analysis, it can be concluded that most of students believe that listening and speaking are the skills which take the most important role for their future job and the components they need most to be mastered are vocabulary and pronunciation. In terms of input, the text that students want in the listening are authentic material, monolog and dialog pictures which contain new vocabulary as the same as in speaking. Regarding to the activities, most of the students prefer to do the task about completing blanks on an incomplete text in listening activity. In speaking activity they prefer to do role playing. In vocabulary activity, they prefer to do completing blanks on incomplete sentences or paragraph. While In pronunciation activity, listening and then repeating the way the teachers pronounce words is the activity they want. Furthermore, for the second research question, the teachers respond that overall of the material developed by the researcher is good since warming-up, five stages of scientific approach, the tasks and media are provided well in the material and both the content of conversation and vocabularies provided are related to hospitality.
